Kinu Tateiwa Suspension Bridge

A suspension bridge connecting the hot spring resort and the famous Tateiwa

This is a suspension bridge for pedestrians that connects the Kinugawa Onsen Hot Spring Resort and Tateiwa. It is approximately 140 meters long and offers a panoramic view of the rapids of the Kinugawa River and beautiful mountains.

The bridge is approximately 40 meters high and spans through a large rock formation.

Tateiwa is about 70 meters high and was so named because it resembles a shield used in battle.

There is an observatory at the top of Tateiwa, offering a wonderful panoramic view of the clear waters of the Kinugawa River, the hot spring resort area, and Mt.

Kinugawa Onsen offers beautiful nature in each of the four seasons: flowers in the mountains in spring, cool river currents in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy landscapes in winter. The Kinu Tateiwa Suspension Bridge, which connects the hot spring resort to the famous Tateiwa Rock, allows visitors to experience the charm of Kinugawa Onsen firsthand.

This walking-only suspension bridge is 40 meters high and 140 meters long, and its wooden structure may sway when there are many people passing by, although it is made of wooden planks with no gaps in between.

Tateiwa is said to bring good luck in marriage and fertility, and there is a Tateiwa observatory across the suspension bridge.

It is a great sightseeing spot where you can enjoy the thrill and scenery while strolling through the hot spring resort area.

This suspension bridge over the Kinugawa River connects the southern part of the Kinugawa Onsen district with Tateiwa, and is a pedestrian-only bridge. Passage is free, and vehicles are not allowed. It is also called the “marriage bridge” because it connects men and women, comparing the Kinugawa River to a woman and Tateiwa to a man.
