Located near Kegon-no-taki Waterfall and Lake Chuzenji, this museum offers visitors a fun way to learn about the nature and history of Oku-Nikko through the use of video equipment and other facilities.
It also functions as a visitor center and a base for disseminating information on Oku-Nikko, and offers a wide range of activities, including the latest information on nature in each of the four seasons, information on hiking trails, and nature experience events.
The museum features hands-on exhibits that make full use of the latest digital technology. Various events are also held, including nature experiences with nature guides, snowshoe hiking, bird watching, constellation viewing, and trekking.
In the nature-related exhibition rooms, visitors can experience the magnificent nature of Oku-Nikko through immersive images that utilize the latest digital technology.
The humanities exhibition room introduces the history of Oku-Nikko and features a video depicting the relationship between British Minister Ernest Satow and Oku-Nikko.
In addition, there is a museum store inside the museum, which offers a wide range of souvenirs related to Oku-Nikko’s nature, as well as books and goods useful for nature walks.
There is also an Oku-Nikko Information Center with English-speaking staff. Visitors can search for information on the Internet and use graphic panels to learn about tourist spots.
In addition, a lecture room is available for meetings and events. Mini lectures and mini crafts for groups are also popular (reservations required).
