The 320 meter long suspension bridge spans the Shiobara Dam Lake. From the bridge, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of the spectacular natural scenery of Shiobara Valley. Especially during the season of autumn leaves, the colors of the mountains reflected on the lake surface create an even more beautiful scene.
This suspension bridge is a non-reinforced girder pedestrian suspension bridge that increases the strength of the suspension bridge by stretching wire ropes horizontally, and is the largest bridge of this structure in Japan.
The Momijidani Suspension Bridge is also known as a “Lover’s Mecca,” making it a perfect romantic spot for a marriage proposal. At the entrance of the bridge, there is a symbolic monument of a “bear hawk” and a heart-shaped bench where lovers can enjoy taking commemorative photos.
At the “Forest Station” located at the entrance of the Momijidani Suspension Bridge, you can enjoy a meal at the restaurant and buy “sacred place for lovers” goods such as bracelets, Tochigi’s famous sweets, bamboo and wood crafts, and more.
