Nakagawa Aquatic Park

This is a water and greenery experience zone where visitors can come into contact with the nature of Naka River and the fish that live there. Here, fish that live in Naka River, freshwater fish from around the world, and fish from tropical rain forests and coral reefs are exhibited.

Freshwater fish are the main exhibits, with many rare species. In all, there are 330 species of creatures and 20,000 fish in the museum.

The site is a nature park with the “Interesting Fish Museum” at its center, and visitors can also enjoy fishing and catching fish at the “Fish Fureai Station.

The museum is divided into an exhibition zone and an experience zone, where visitors can see 20,000 fish of 300 species, mainly from the Naka River and the Amazon River.

In addition to deepening your knowledge of fish, this is also a place where you can have valuable hands-on experiences such as dyeing plants and trees or making manju (Japanese sweet buns).

Furthermore, many events are held in accordance with each season, so visitors can enjoy themselves no matter how many times they visit.

Nakagawa Aquarium is located on the grounds of the Tochigi Prefectural Fisheries Experiment Station and includes a freshwater fish aquarium and park. It is located on the banks of the Naka River and the Broom River.

The facility includes the “Omoshiro Gyokan” and other exhibition facilities, a park, an observatory, and a station where visitors can interact with fish.

The highlight of the “Fun Fish Pavilion” is a huge aquarium displaying tropical fish from the Amazon and a dome-shaped tunnel. There, you will find ancient pirarucu fish, freshwater stingrays, and other tropical fish that are as big as saltwater fish.

Also on display are freshwater fish from the upper and lower reaches of the Naka River, various Japanese freshwater fish, tropical saltwater fish, and rare fish.

Furthermore, a menu of hands-on activities is available for both children and adults to enjoy and learn.

The park also features a water plaza, Nakagawa Observatory, a fish encounter station, and a lawn area, providing visitors with an enjoyable time.
